Lee Orozco was born in the Bay Area, but Nevada became home when his family moved to Reno when he was 10 years old. He grew up attending Reno schools, graduated from McQueen High School, and later attended the University of Nevada, Reno.
Lee’s path to law enforcement began while he was working as an armored car courier and serving as a reserve deputy with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. During that time, he met his wife, Elizabeth “Liz,” and began testing for full-time law enforcement positions. In 1996, then-Sheriff Bill Lawry hired Lee to serve with the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office.
That decision brought Lee and Liz to Fallon, where they built their life and raised their four children — two daughters and two sons. Their children grew up in Churchill County, and two of them have continued the family’s commitment to service. Their oldest son attended the United States Naval Academy and now serves as a Major in the United States Marine Corps. Their other son serves as a firefighter and flight medic with East Fork Fire Protection District in Douglas County. They have also been blessed with 1 granddaughter and 2 grandsons.
When Lee is not serving the community, he enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time outdoors and with his family.
Lee’s story is rooted in Nevada, strengthened by family, and shaped by three decades of service to Churchill County. He is proud to call Fallon home and remains committed to protecting the people, values, and future of this community.
